Editor's View: Cats, bulls make interesting week

From the River Cats to learning Italian, not to mention all the Folsom Pro Rodeo activities, there is a lot going on around town these days.Let's start with the Sacramento River Cats. Two players will make an in-store appearance from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 2 at Comcast's Folsom retail store at 2766 E. Bidwell St., Suite 600. If you're a baseball fan, stop by and say hi.For those looking to learn some Italian before taking their big vacation, now is the time to enroll for classes at the Murer House Learning Center, 1125 Joe Murer Court, Folsom.Cindy Baker tells me classes are 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays from July 20 through Aug. 24. Registration is $90. The six-week Italian for Travelers class teaches basic Italian. Travel books are also available for $21.To enroll, call (916) 985-3250.For those looking to do some good in the community, there are plenty of options.Stop by the Telegraph office at 921 Sutter St. and drop off supplies to be sent to the troops overseas. There is a list near the drop basket of needed items.Folsom's Grocery Outlet is also making it easy to help feed the hungry.They've partnered with Twin Lakes Food Bank and St. Vincent de Paul."We are proud to partner (with these organizations) to help people who don't knows know where they will find their next meal," said owner Steve Smith.While shopping, look for specially marked items that are needed by the organizations. Purchase them and leave them in a collection bin at the front of the store. Cash donations may be made at the register.If running is your thing, don't miss the Bulls and Brews Fun Run taking place prior to the Cattle Drive at 6 p.m., June 30.
