My job is to visit families either every 20 days or once a week, depending on their needs. I go in and make sure they are following state education standards and check their progress.What do you like about your job?I love everything about it. This semester, I started teaching an art class at our Lincoln site. The other thing I like is, over the course of my years, I keep with these families so I become a part of their families and get to know them more and more.What makes Horizon different than other schools?We are a public school and the difference between our school and a site-based public school is we offer a little bit more of choice and personalized learning. I have 32 students and each one of the kiddos are different learners, like hands-on or visual. I can tailor to their needs.Is Horizon strictly homeschooling?We have homeschooling but we offer site-based classes and programs.Why would a family choose homeschooling?People choose homeschooling for a variety of reasons. There are a lot of families who want to choose the type of curriculum for their student or there are students who are excelling in different subjects.What do you like to do when you are not working?Hang out with my family and I love to go camping, anything outdoors. All summer long, we go camping and, when it's cold, we usually hike. You grew up in Lincoln. What has changed the most about Lincoln?I remember when they put in the first stoplight at Highway 65 and Fifth Street. What's changed is the amount of people and we have grocery stores to choose from.Do you miss the way Lincoln used to be?Sometimes I do. When I was young, you would drive through town and it would take a minute and you knew everyone you passed, which was kind of fun.Where did kids hang out when you were growing up?When I was around junior or senior year, we would hang out at Morning Glory. That's where Brickhouse Coffee is. That's where we hung out, or at Round Table, which was next to Rainbow Market.
