Roseville Annihilators capture U10 CYSA Founders Cup

The Roseville Annihilators, a U10 team from the Roseville Youth Soccer Club, wrapped up a six-game run by winning the CYSA Founders Cup on Saturday.Played over two weekends at Cherry Island Soccer Complex, the Annihilators outscored their opponents 25-2. They beat teams from Clovis, Arnold and South San Francisco to advance to the quarterfinals as the No. 1 seed, then defeated San Francisco 5-0 and the Cap Valley Striking Eagles 3-0 to advance to the championship match, where they defeated Tracy 5-0.The Roseville team also went 9-1 in the fall season, outscoring foes 58-13, and went 4-0 to capture the "At the Break Shootout" in October in Roseville.The Annihilators are managed by Billy Auger, and Mike Crews is the assistant coach. Sean Dahlberg, Brayden Larson, Cade Larson and Dominic Chess led the offense. Midfielders included Ethan Auger, Logan Newsom, Michael Ringey, Joshua Almarez and Dominic Salameh. Making up the backfield were Cade Triplett, Dylan Donaldson, Mason Crews, Joshua Ott and goalie Mason Becker.Knights of Columbus free throw contestThe Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, at St. Rose Church, 615 Vine Ave., in Roseville.The contest is open to girls and boys ages 10-14. Girls in kindergarten and first grade will shoot at 6½-foot baskets. Second- and third-graders will play on eight-foot baskets and fourth- and fifth-graders on 10-foot baskets.Girls will be introduced to the offensive and defensive fundamentals of basketball, as well as rules and sportsmanship. Woodcreek coaches and players will organize and conduct practices and games.Pre-registration is $50 with the deadline Dec. 21.
