Torres brings Filipino food to Lincoln

There are a lot of Filipinos in this community. To buy one or more things for cooking, you have to go to Roseville or South Sacramento. What does your store's name mean? I always bring the MK with me, no matter what business I have. That's for Megan and Kevin. The Pnoy is actually Pinoy without an "I," which means Filipino, for short. What do you sell? Ingredients for Asian cooking. We have dried, frozen fish; a variety of noodles. On the weekends, we'll have prepackaged desserts and fresh bread. What's the most unique item you carry? The Bagoong Padas, which is whole, little fried fish and also Monamon, which is the little fish ground up. When you eat it, it's sandy. They use it for vegetables. Is this the first store you have owned? Yes. I used to work at Roseville Care, a skilled-nursing facility, where I was a certified nursing assistant. Do you miss it? Kind of. I miss having the communication with my residents. I loved the residents in my group. What do you like to do in your free time? I just play golf when I'm not working to relax. Since I started the store a month-and-a-half ago, I haven't golfed. The Filipino community asked if we would start carrying Filipino food product so our main focus is going to be that. How long has your family lived in Lincoln? For five years. It's a safe, nice community. We moved from the Bay Area to Antelope and then from Antelope to Lincoln. Our house was broken into in Antelope so we moved here. All of our family lives here, like my sister and brother. How long were you a certified nursing assistant? I was a CNA for five years. I lost my job, I used to work at First Data in the purchasing department, so I went to school.
