Journal hits all the right notes

What a good paper today's (Friday, Feb. 10) Auburn Journal was, from start to finish. It had already arrived when I could not sleep at 3:30 a.m. and it had a nice weight to it. The paper addressed follow-up questions from earlier stories in the week, included a pointed local cartoon, told of events going on this weekend and into the summer, brought some good regional news and bad, included national and international reports along with the requisite animal stories, and allowed community members to be heard on local issues. Two of the advertising inserts carried information that was news to me. In the real estate section, my perfect house is for sale, even if I'm not buying. And there are even a couple of stories for me to finish tonight after dinner.Every day, the paper gives us facts and relays opinions on subjects my neighbors and co-workers and I have in common and care about. It features people we know personally or by reputation. It's about us, I suppose, and it keeps us connected.
