Chester Baker

Chester Baker was a longtime Roseville resident, Chester (Chet) Baker died on Friday, November 5, 2004. Mr. Baker was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on October 12, 1917. He grew up on a farm in Idaho. He married Ada Hill in 1938 and they farmed in Idaho until 1957. Chet started working in the diamond drilling business in Idaho and worked in most of the western states including Alaska where he and his wife spent two summers on camp jobs, Chet as a driller/foreman, Ada as the camp cook and Parris, their son, as the dishwasher. He and his wife moved to California in 1963 and had resided in Roseville since 1972. Mr. Baker is survived by his daughter Trillis Fleming and her husband Larry and his son Parris Baker and his wife Linda. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and their spouses, who were as dear to him as his grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. His wife of over 50 years died in 1993. A memorial service honoring Mr. Baker will be held at a later date.Published in the Roseville Press Tribune on Nov. 13, 2004.
