God made you to be a true hero, to sacrifice for others

We live in a society that makes heroes out of celebrities. Yet there's a big difference between a celebrity and a hero. What's the difference? Sacrifice. Heroes sacrifice for others. There are a lot of famous people who make a lot of sacrifices ... for themselves. But true heroes sacrifice for others. Deep inside of you there is a desire to be a hero.Most people go all through life, frustrated and unfulfilled, giving their lives to their careers, the pursuit of pleasure, the next thrill, or material things, all in the pursuit of happiness. Yet they're not happy. Why? Because God wired you differently. He wired you to give your life away, that's where fulfillment comes. Have you ever tried to use something for a purpose that it was not created for? Like trying to use a knife when you needed a screwdriver? What happens when you try to use something for a purpose it was not created for?Frustration! That's true in your life. When you try to live a life for a purpose that you were not created for, there's frustration. When you try to live in a way that God didn't intend for you to live, it brings boredom, unfulfillment, stress, problems, difficulties, failures and all kinds of things.Here's the secret to happiness. Stop seeking it! Happiness is not the goal of life. The more you try to chase happiness, like a beautiful butterfly, the more it's going to fly away. Happiness is not a goal of life. Happiness is a by-product of being what God made you to be. When you focus on being what God made you to be you're going to be happy. You're going to be happier than you ever thought possible. God made you to be a hero.God made you to be a hero, but God will let you choose. You can live a totally self-centered, selfish life and just be a little egotistical clod on this earth. And most people do. They live for themselves, their interests, their family, their needs, and their own possessions. But if you live this way, you'll miss out on the greatest blessings of life. You were wired to serve God. Your were wired to share Him with others. And when you do, it is the greatest thrill of life. "Give yourselves completely to God ...you want to be tools in the hands of God, to be used for his good purposes." Rom. 6:13b (LB) As long as you keep living for yourself, you're going to be frustrated. So how can you live a sacrificial life? Here's two major ways:Volunteer in your church. "Jesus gave His life for us so we should give our lives for our brothers and sisters." 1 John 3:16. We call this ministry.Share the good news with others. The Bible says, "With Jesus' help we will continually offer our sacrifice to praise by telling others the glory of His name." Life is composed of trade-offs. You can't do everything. So you have to decide, "What am I going to do with my life?" Whether you've got five or 50 years left. What contribution are you going to make with your life? Will you be a true hero? Will you sacrifice for God and others by serving Him and sharing Him with others?
