Roseville Electric wins most reliable award for fifth time

Roseville Electric has nabbed its fifth consecutive annual award as a municipal power provider for utilities serving less than 100,000 customers.The award was given by PA Consulting Group, which judged competitors on various criterion, including an on-site certification process of RE's reliability reporting.Roseville Electric was officially recognized for the award Tuesday morning by city officials. Roseville Electric representatives will travel to Washington, D.C. on Nov. 10 for the formal awards ceremony."Roseville Electric continues to demonstrate a great team effort for providing reliable, low-cost energy to residents and businesses that is a national role model for other municipal electric utilities to follow," Mayor Gina Garbolino said. RE is also in the process of building a power plant located in West Roseville that will provide more than half of the city's electrical demand; it is expected to be finished in spring 2007."All around, they've shown outstanding dedication to reliable electric service, with the lowest outage rates," said Derek HasBrouck, of PA's Consulting Group.Council member Jim Gray lauded the employees of Roseville Electric for providing top-quality service."It just shows you what kind of employees we have and their dedication to keep that reliability," Gray said. "It continues to reinforce how important it is for us to have our own municipal electric utility and how important it is for us to get this power plant built. For the most part, we'll be relying on ourselves and minimizing the amount of reliance we have on the open market."
