Burglary attempts end in arrests

Petr Kuzmenko, Aleksey Kuzmenko and Nikolai Kuzmenko from Loomis were arrested and booked on April 9 on charges of burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, receiving known stolen property and possession of burglary tools. According to an statement taken by Rocklin Police Officer Brandon Olivera, an apartment resident at The Crossing Apartments at 6050 Placer West Drive in Rocklin went into the complex parking lot at about midnight on April 9. The statement read, "I came outside to get some medication from my vehicle,"she said.As she approached her car she observed two male subjects breaking into her neighbor's vehicle. "One of the subjects was inside of the passenger compartment of the vehicle, rummaging through the glove compartment and the other was digging around in the trunk of the car," she stated. "I asked the subjects what they were doing and they both asked me what I meant. I told them that I knew that the car didn't belong to them and they both started walking away from my location, towards the opposite side of the complex." The witness ran to a neighboring apartment and called the police.The witness didn't see the subjects get into a car and did not know if there was anyone else with them. "I could identify both subjects if I were to see them again," she told Olivera.The victim said nothing was taken from her vehicle and confirmed that she locked the doors of the vehicle. The suspects caused some damage to the vehicle when they forced entry into the vehicle.At approximately 1 a.m. Officer Jeff Kolaskey reported a suspicious vehicle with three occupants in the area. The witness was transported to where the suspects were being detained and identified the three Kuzmenkos."Upon driving by the suspect's location (the witness) positively identified" the three suspects and was 100 percent positive" that the three were the subjects that she had seen breaking into the vehicle," Olivera recorded. Kolaskey and Officear Chad Butler arrested the suspects at approximately 2:30 a.m. Officers Kolaskey, Butler and Rich Cabana later found stolen stereo equipment and reported items from burglaries in the trunk of the vehicle where the three suspects were located.Before clearing the scene Sgt. Lon Milka confirmed that there had been four other auto burglaries in the same Apartment complex. Some of the reported missing property was recovered from the suspect's vehicle and later positively identified by victims.
