Infostations fourth fastest growing in Sacramento area

A Rocklin Internet company has been ranked the fourth fastest-growing business in the Sacramento Region.Infostations, a start-up business at 5050 Rocklin Road in 2000 has grown to 10,000 subscribers, 6,500 of them since 2001. The 93-percent yearly growth rate placed them first on the Sacramento Business Journal?s list of fast growing ISPs, and fourth in overall business.To continue that growth, Infostations, currently a dial-up Internet provider has announced the launching of wireless service to residents of Rocklin, Roseville and Citrus Heights in November. Territorial expansion is planned for the second quarter of 2004.?There is a high demand for wireless service,? said Infostations Chief Executive Officer Eric Perryman. ?There is a three-way competition now between cable Internet, DSL and wireless. Wireless is the newest competitor there, and is gaining popularity.?Perryman said wireless service will cost $29 a month and compares the Internet service setup to DISH television ? using a small receiver on the roof of a building transmitting to an access point on a local tower.?We have an antenna on a tower, in this case we use the railroad tower in Roseville,?
