Pisik takes over at WJU

Several months after helping the Sierra College women's basketball team reach the California Community College state championships, Scott Pisik has accepted a new coaching challenge.William Jessup University announced Friday it has named Pisik the new head coach of its women's basketball team. Pisik, who was an assistant coach at nearby Sierra, has 18 years of coaching experience at the high school and college level."I am very excited to have Scott join our family," said William Jessup Athletic Director Farnum Smith. "His years of experience working as an assistant at several successful community colleges and high school programs made him an ideal candidate to help bolster our women's program and take it to the next level."Pisik joins a coaching staff that will continue to include Ruthie Bolton. Bolton, who spent the last three seasons as head coach, will remain with the program as an associate coach. Bolton said she decided to take a reduced role so she could divide her time more equally among her other career responsibilities."This move will allow me to have more flexibility in my schedule to pursue other career interests and obligations," Bolton said. "It will also allow me to focus more on individual and specialized training with the basketball players at William Jessup." A standout player for many years with the Sacramento Monarchs, Bolton works for Maloof Sports & Entertainment in a variety of duties. Both Smith and Pisik are pleased Bolton will continue to lend her basketball expertise to the program."I am delighted that Ruthie will remain an integral part of William Jessup basketball," Smith said. "She has done a great job with our women and brings so many intangibles to our program. We can't thank Ruthie enough for getting our program started on the Rocklin campus."Pisik began his career in 1992 as the head coach at Watsonville High and assisted at Hartnell College (1994-1998), helping the team to back-to-back Final Four appearances. He was an assistant coach for the Sierra College men's basketball team from 1998-2000. Pisik also served as an assistant at Lincoln High (2002-2005) where the Zebras reached the Northern California Championships one season. Last summer he was named as the Assistant Director for NBC Camps, which are held throughout the Northwest.Pisik played collegiately from 1988 to 1990 at Hartnell College and ended his career at Colorado Christian University (1990-1992)."I'm really happy to get this coaching opportunity and be able to work with people like Farnum Smith, who has brought a vision of growth and success to William Jessup University," Pisik said. "The program has tremendous potential."I am also honored with the opportunity of getting to know and work with a great basketball person like Ruthie Bolton," Pisik added. "Her vast experience and knowledge of the game will continue to greatly contribute to the success of the Lady Warriors basketball program."
