Residents ask for help with train horn noise

This is a petition to members of the Lincoln City Council regarding nighttime railroad train horn noise:My husband and I are residents of Lincoln who moved here for a small town atmosphere and its quality of life. We love the area, with one big exception: The large volume of very noisy railroad train horns that blow throughout the night, making a good night's sleep next to impossible and are certain to impact future resale values of our homes. It is so obnoxious, that many will move without your intervention. Other communities have resolved their citizen's complaints by establishing "Quiet Zones" during the night. Examples include, but are not limited to, Roseville, Sacramento, and Richmond. The procedure is simplified and detailed on the Federal Railroad Administration Web site at www.fra.dot.gov under "Train Horn Rule." We ask for your strong and immediate support in approving and establishing quiet zones and any other measures that help to resolve this problem, which might have been anticipated and resolved before final approval of Lincoln Crossing and other affected subdivisions. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
