Superior Court invites applications for Grand Jury

perior Court is seeking applications from its citizens interested in an opportunity to serve on the 2007-'08 Placer County Grand Jury. The Grand Jury's term will be from July 1, 2007 to June 20, 2008. The deadline for applications is 5 p.m. Friday, May 25.By law, the Grand Jury is composed of citizens who are responsible for conducting independent and nonbiased investigations and making reports concerning all aspects of the operations of both city and county government. In addition, the Grand Jury may be called upon to hear evidence in selected criminal cases. Those who are concerned about the quality of government will find contributing ones' time and talent to be fulfilling and rewarding. Service on the Grand Jury requires a substantial investment of time, usually 20 hours per week. There may be several Grand Jury meetings each week and members of the Grand Jury routinely make visits to various public offices and officials in carrying out their responsibilities.
