Oxley Golf Tournamentcontinues to thriveI would like to thank the Roseville Men's Golf Club at Diamond Oaks Golf Course for their continued support of the junior golf program in Northern California by sponsoring the David Oxley Junior Golf Tournament for the past 37 years. On Monday, the 37th annual tournament was held at Diamond Oaks. The tournament was again a huge success with junior golfers from all over Northern California playing the one-day tournament. I was fortunate to be asked to present one junior golfer, who is 12 years old, with his prize for his hole-in-one. This was the first hole-in-one ever for the tournament. I would like to thank everyone involved with the tournament for their continued support, friendship, kindness, and hard work. The core group of Roseville Men's Golf Club members has personally contributed to the tournament for the past 37 years. The tournament began the year after my brother Dave, who was an excellent junior golfer, lost his life in a swimming accident. John George and Bob LeVesque, personal friends and Roseville Golf Club members, started the tournament and both have participated in every tournament since. Unbelievable! Hundreds of members have worked to make the tournament the success that it is today. To date approximately 4,000 junior golfers have participated in Dave's tournament during the past 37 years. Mark Felt waited until he was 91 to take credit for his disclosures. Linda Tripp, on the other hand, couldn't wait to engage in her intrigue with immediate and full disclosure.President Clinton should be ashamed of his actions and I am sure he wishes he had been less libido and more commander with respect to the Monica Lewinsky episode. However, your summary that the Democrats will never see sense and recognize Tripp with the same admiration as Mr. Felt is a bit of a stretch on several counts.First, Tripp's only background in clandestine operations was orchestrated not out of direct conscience, but because others urged her. She betrayed a confidence not informed about a felonious criminal affair. Finally, for the record, I am a Democrat and I did not appoint you to speak on my behalf.So I must let you know a couple of things. In the text of your Deep Throat letter you imply that your idea of the left is far from admirable. You pat yourself on the back for being on the opposite end of the left. Mr. Calac, the right wing of Republicans you are so proud of have their share to answer for as well.From ballot box tampering, to professing to be pro-life while endorsing murder of our youth and innocent Iraqi people in an illegal war, to mention only a few. All to help pay for the infrastructure and services for all the annexing done recently and yet to come. Its not like the City of Roseville is out of money. Look at cash reserves. Ya, Ya...everyone needs a raise, but how can those of us on a fixed income ask the government for a raise to offset Roseville rate increases. Please put me down as a 'no' on this phony rate increase. The ballot box is my only weapon of defense against this extortion. They can use their parking lots to display the latest military hardware while they teach that using this stuff to slaughter their fellow man is just fine if people in D.C. say so. No need to get all confused about ancient biblical tenets. As Dick Cheney will tell you (ad nauseam), everything changed after 9/11. We now know that, like the Geneva Convention, that is all quaint. It's multi-cultural, leftist nonsense meant to make America weak. Freedom is on the march and using cruise missiles to deliver death from the sky in urban areas is what keeps it marching. George Bush is certainly doing his part to carry out God's wishes, but he needs lots more men and women with good moral values to invade all the countries he has on his list. Why are there still so many young, able-bodied people walking around in a good Republican county like Placer? Willie Wasilco,ForesthillCaution needs to be taken for Clover Valley I want to express my concern for Clover Valley. Without going on and on, I simply feel that we need to take steps that protect these areas of nature. Houses and apartment buildings are being built everywhere you look. I know houses are a necessity, but it's also important to preserve areas that tell a story of our past and prove some shelter for wildlife. Now is the time to choose to save Clover Valley. As you know, once the houses are built, the pristine valley will be gone forever. Wouldn't it be a wonderful example to set for the younger generations to save Clover Valley?
