Nash appointed to Granite Bay MAC Tuesday

The Placer County Board of Supervisors officially appointed Granite Bay resident Steve Nash to his community's Municipal Advisory Council Tuesday. Nash, 41, will replace Michael Casey, who joined the MAC in September 2003. Casey wasn't planning on leaving the board, but a requirement to serve on the MAC is living within the community. A move from Granite Bay, where he resided since 1997, to Roseville earlier this year made Casey ineligible. "I wanted to get on the Granite Bay MAC because I love the Granite Bay community and I appreciate the quality of life there," Casey said when appointed.Nash might be the newest board member, but in no way is he a stranger to the community. Nash has served on the MAC's parks subcommittee since 2000 and has donated a lot of time, money and energy to the Ronald Feist Park, one of two new sites proposed for the Granite Bay area. He's also served on the Treelake Village Homeowners Association for six years.Nash, a self-employed small business owner since 1990, is also involved with the local schools. He became a father of four in 2002 when his wife, Renee, gave birth to their triplets - Alexandra, Emily and Susan, now 3. His oldest daughter, Katie, is 4. With Nash's appointment, all MAC seats are currently filled. However, a secretary is still needed. This job requires the applicant to attend one meeting per month as well as mail out the agendas and take meeting minutes as well as other related duties. The position pays $100 per meeting and is considered voluntary.Nash will join MAC chairman Virgil Anderson, vice-chair Jill Ernst, and members Richard Botkin, Sean Corcoran, Walter Perkarsky and David Kaiser.
