Downtown Roseville site of Thursday's Family Fun Night

Hats off to the city's Redevelopment Agency for the fabulous three-day workshop that was put on earlier this month by RBF Urban Design. The workshop provided an excellent, interactive opportunity for the citizens of Roseville to dream about what our downtown could and should become some day. If you were unable to participate, but would like to know more about the workshops, visit www.roseville.ca.us, then click on downtown Roseville visioning project and you will find everything you missed from this event. n n nWhile we are on the subject of downtown, I hope you are planning to bring your children to the Family Fun Night sponsored by the Downtown Merchants Association Thursday evening from 5-9 p.m. The event will occur along the 200 and 300 blocks of Vernon Street in the heart of Downtown Roseville. Family Fun Night offers plenty of free entertainment. There will be a magic show, face painting, balloons, clown entertainment, a spooky reptile show, an Extreme Rush Obstacle Course, a giant slide and a costume contest with awards for boys and girls in five different age groups, all for free. n n n There's still more to do downtown - the annual Holiday Parade, which is brought to you by the city, Chamber of Commerce, Roseville Electric and The Press-Tribune. The event is just around the corner, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19. The parade route for this popular event is along Vernon Street starting at 10 a.m. Chairperson for the event, Sylvia Besana, and her committee are actively recruiting community groups, schools, churches and youth groups to participate in this annual Roseville tradition. Applications to participate are now available at the following locations: Chamber of Commerce, 650 Douglas Blvd., or www.rosevillechamber.com; online at www.roseville.ca.us; City Clerk's Department, 311 Vernon St.; Main Library, 225 Taylor St.; Maidu Library, 1530 Maidu Drive.The deadline to submit the entry form is Friday, Nov. 11 at the Roseville Chamber of Commerce. Following the parade, thanks to the generosity of Sierra Vista Communities, the children of Roseville can have fun in the snow - yes, snow!
