John Magarian, a 12-year-old honor roll student at Merryhill Preparatory School in Sacramento, was se-lected to attend the Junior National Lead-ers Conference last month in Washington, D.C.Themed "The Legacy of American Leadership, the conference introduced youth to the tradition of leadership throughout American history, while helping them develop their own leadership skills.Magarian participated in educational activities and presentations led by individuals in high-level positions as well as young people who exercise leadership skills within their communities.Participants also visited historic national landmarks, including colonial Williamsburg.He plays basketball for Merryhill and won the Coach's Award for the 2003-2004 season.Prior to attending school in Sacramento, Magarian attended Gold Ridge Elemen-tary School in Folsom and Merryhill Sierra Gardens Elementary in Roseville.He is an altar server at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Folsom.Silverstein hired as copywriter in SacramentoSacramento-based integrated marketing agency Crocker/ Flanagan recently hired Maria Silverstein as a copywriter."Maria definitely has a wonderful way with words," said Scot Crocker, president and CEO of Crocker/ Flanagan. "Her creativity and enthusiasm make her a real asset to our clients and the agency itself."Silverstein will be responsible for helping develop creative concepts for the agency's clients as well as writing copy for print ads, brochures, radio, television advertising and Web sites.A Folsom resident, Silverstein formerly worked at Sierra Pacific Mortgage in Sacramento where she organized events, designed flyers for new loan products and built a database for account executives.A graduate of San Jose State University, she earned a B.S. degree in advertising with a minor in psychology.While a student, she competed in the American Advertising Federation's national competition for students and helped develop a campaign for the Toyota Matrix.She is involved with several local groups and charities, including the Golden Key International Honor Society and the March of Dimes. She is also L.E.T. (Leadership Effective-ness Training) certified.Soroptimists attendconference in CanadaMuriel Brounstein, Toni Raney, Patti Pink and Roberta Ward, members of Soroptimist International of Folsom-Orange-vale attended the Federation conference in Calgary, Alberta, Canada this summer.Soroptimist International is a worldwide organization for women in management working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women.During the conference, awards were given to various clubs and to outstanding women in recognition of their exceptional achievements.Frank hired at AgreeYa,several others promotedAgreeYa Solutions, a Folsom based IT staffing and consulting firm, has hired Dan Frank as director of offshore services. Frank is a veteran software services executive with over 10 years of experience in global IT sales and business development. He served as a regional vice president of sales for Serena Software and held senior executive sales positions at Computer Associates and Sterling Software where he ran distributor and direct sales operations.In addition, Jim Serre has been promoted to director, business development supporting the company's staffing and consulting services. Serre has been with AgreeYa for more than two years and brings more than 25 years of business experience, including 15 years of consulting services business development and sales.Michelle French has been hired as an account manager. French's previous experience includes more than five years of sales management experience at one of the nation's largest Internet service providers.Lisa Woodburn has been hired as an account manager and brings more than 20 years of sales and business experience in the private and public sectors specializing in the financial, healthcare and high tech industries. Woodburn spent time at Gartner, Inc. where she managed a diversity of commercial and government accounts.Jamie West has been hired as an account manager and brings more than seven years of account management and sales experience. West has significant experience in the insurance and aerospace industries.Noel Wagner has been hired as an account manager and brings more than 10 years of staffing experience to the AgreeYa team. Wagner has previously managed branch offices and Northern California territories for local staffing companies.
