Weidle named executive director

Tom Weidle, a resident of the area for 17 years, has been named executive director of the Folsom Lake Symphony Orchestra."Having just completed our first full season of concerts, we have reached a point in our rapid development that an executive director is now needed," said Bruce Woodbury, president of the Folsom Lake Symphony Orchestra. "The FLSO is growing quickly thanks to the overwhelming support of the community. The appointment of an executive director will help us continue that growth in an organized manner. Tom's experience with managing the business of a symphony orchestra will help us considerably."Originally from Ohio, Weidle worked in the broadcast industry for more than 30 years. Although he has played his saxophone with orchestras, Weidle prefers playing with jazz bands.Folsom Lake Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of music director Michael Neumann, held its first performance in March 2004 and continued with its first full season of concerts in 2004-2005.The 2005-2006 concert season will start with the fall concert on Nov. 17. A holiday concert is planned for Dec. 17 followed by the winter concert on Feb. 25 and a spring concert on May 20.Concerts are presently performed at the Jill Solberg Performing Arts Theater at Folsom High School, but will move to Folsom Lake College when the theater is built on the Folsom campus.
