Bridge to cross East Bidwell

Folsom residents are invited to comment on the proposed East Bidwell Street bike/pedestrian bridge project at a community meeting scheduled Thursday, Aug. 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the multi-purpose room at Folsom Middle School, 500 Blue Ravine Road. Details on the proposed bridge, including two design alternatives, will be provided. City staff will be on hand to answer questions.The bridge will span East Bidwell Street just east of Blue Ravine Road, linking two popular recreational trails, according to Jim Konopka, senior trails planner for the city of Folsom."The bridge will offer a safe, efficient and enjoyable route for bicyclists, pedestrians and local school children," said Konopka. "The project also integrates a wildlife overlook platform that takes advantage of the great view from the south side of the bridge ramp."Construction of the bridge is expected to begin this December and will take approximately eight months to complete.
