Certified teachers, board members sworn in at FCUSD meeting

Folsom Cordova Union School District's two newest National Board Certified teachers were sworn in at Thursday night's board meeting, the last meeting of 2006.Cordova High School math teacher Tracy Suter and Folsom Middle School math teacher Marcene Covington received the highest credential in the teaching profession. National Board Certification is reserved for teachers who meet the requirements of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. Currently, only 35 FCUSD teachers are board certified.Also sworn in were re-elected board members Richard Shaw and Ed Short, along with former board member Roger Benton. The Board of Education elected trustee Teresa Stanley for her second year as Board President, trustee Richard Shaw as Board Vice-President, and trustee Mary McCormick as Board Clerk.In other action, a new election was ordered for Measure M, which failed by two votes in November. The new election date is scheduled for March 27, 2007.
