Philip Webb Railsback

Philip Webb Railsback passed away on May 30 in Colfax, California following a brief illness. Born in Shreveport, Louisiana on March 3, 1951 to the late Clyde and Emerett Railsback, Philip spent his early years in Wichita Falls, Texas and later graduated from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas, with a degree in Television and Film. He has had a successful career as a screenwriter since he came to California in the early 1980s. His film, Stars Fell on Henrietta, produced by Clint Eastwood in 1995, was based on his grandmother Winifred Sanford's short story Luck. He had several works in development at the time of his death.Philip was a devoted father who instilled the love of the arts in his family. Weekly outings with his children to plays and other entertainments developed discriminating judgment in their taste and interests.Philip is survived by his wife Janet, daughter Aubrey, son Wesley and brothers Paul, Steve and David as well as his aunt Helen Sanford, sisters-in-law Becky, Marcy, Saige, Lisa and Nancy Railsback, brother-in-law Rob Wallace, nieces Lalesha, Eden, Dana and Brady, nephews Beau, Ryan, Craig, Jason , Brian and Gabe and their wives Lynette, Anita, Cari and April, great-nephew Jackson, great-niece Sophia, and cousins Lisa and Ava Wallace and Margaret, Dustin and Dillon Jamner. Philip was preceded in death by his brothers Mike, and Peter.A memorial service is planned for 6 PM Thursday evening, June 2, 2005, at the home of Gabe and April Railsback, 12717 Highland Ct., Auburn CA 95603. Friends are welcome and invited to join the family.
