Thanks for helping Benefest turn a profit

Albeit a small profit, the Sierra Blues Benefest used a black pen instead of a red one this year! Our 3rd Annual Blues Concert Aug. 27 was successfully promoted with the help of many. The Auburn Community Cancer Endow-ment Foundation was on board this year, promoting cancer awareness and raising funds for research - and they were with us all the way. Thanks especially to Virgil Traynor and Sherry Wicks for the many hours of meetings and inspiration; the Auburn Journal for their generous ad campaign sponsorship; Auburn Printers, who sponsored the beautiful posters and handbills; Mussetter Distributing for banners; Auburn Placer Disposal, Gold Country Fair's Gene Toste; community businesses for raffle prizes; Echo Valley Ranch for straw bales; and the CCC volunteers, who had to leave early to fight a fire! The Old Town Business Association and the Auburn Chamber; Norma Harris, for making a personal donation; and many more, too numerous to mention. It was a pleasure working with co-promoters Thom Myers, founder, and John Foley, and to all of the staff volunteers who dedicated so much of their time and effort to this great family event.
